Life After Spiritual Death and Truly Living

Most of this spiritual awakening blog is devoted to death--spiritual death. By this, I mean I help
people learn how to die to their old unconscious egos. I help people to prepare for this death for those who haven't had an awakening, and those who awaken, I help them complete their spiritual death so that they can be reborn. Because it is only in dying this spiritual death do we become free and able to truly live.

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people don't know how to live at all. Much of human living in the Western World is an attempt to feel good or feel safe because people don't feel good or safe in their own skin. They are numbing, running, avoiding, suppressing, repressing, over-working, thrill-seeking, drugging, and drinking their way to zombie-hood, and when they shuffle home at the end of the day, a gnawing feeling that something is missing eats away at many people--if they can even feel that much.

But after awakening and the sometimes prolonged spiritual death some of us go through, now there is space. Now there is the opportunity to truly live. But what does that even mean if you don't need a vacation, a romantic partner, job, or anything else? What does truly living feel like and are there still issues that get confronted?

These are some of the questions I feel like exploring today.

Recording: How to Grow on the Spiritual Path

In my last online talk, I discussed the importance of healing on the spiritual path. People have so many wounds, and there is simply no way to walk or run until you've healed your broken bones. But when that does happen, a whole new world opens. That world is the world of spiritual growth.

Most of what we believe is possible for ourselves is determined by our wounds. If we have a broken leg, we don't believe that sprinting is possible. But once that wound is healed, suddenly, you have all this space to move through. Or rather, the space was already there; you didn't give yourself access to it. This leads people to take on tasks they wouldn't have done before, engage in new types of relationships that would have been otherwise uncomfortable, and generally grow in new ways.

This growth, however, exposes other wounds and limitations. Some people and situations will not support you when you are healthy--many people are committed to your woundedness for one reason or another. So new challenges arise as you grow and expand past the limited world you'd inhabited. This too can bring in new and amazing supporters and friends, so the space of spiritual growth is extremely dynamic.

Near Death Experiences and Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual life, spiritual freedom, spiritual awakening, near death experience, spiritual opening
I happened to read an article about near death experiences while sipping tea in my favorite local tea shop, and I realized that this was a topic that I'd not really discussed before. The topic of the article was more about why they happen and the ambiguous line between life and death. But I'm not so interested in whether these experiences are proof of an afterlife or a whole lot of brain hypoxia (a brain starving for oxygen). I'm interested in what happens afterwards because many people who have near death experiences come to dramatic and life-transforming realizations. Many of them consider their near death experience (NDE--for the rest of this post) to be a spiritual awakening.

So let's take a look at this amazing experience and how it propels many people to live a renewed life if not a totally reborn life.

Recording: How to Heal on the Spiritual Path

healing nature, spiritual journey, spiritual path, spiritual healing
In this spiritual talk, I delve into the topic of healing on the spiritual path. It is a topic that I am passionate about because humanity is so deeply wounded. Before we can even think about spiritual growth, we need to understand healing.

First of all, needing healing doesn't mean you are broken. Most people are far more wounded than they understand. The label and the feeling of being "broken" are part of a victim identity, and the victim ego will always be broken because it separates itself from other parts of your experience. It cuts you off from you. However, the true you is not broken. The true you is divine and never separate from the beauty of oneness.

So the ego it has to go for true healing to be possible. The unconscious ego is a very limited thing that creates separation between you and your truth, and dropping the victim identity/ego is one of the ways where we lose separation. In losing separation, healing can begin because true healing arises from unity within. It is such a beautiful thing that when we need no longer feel broken and don't need to fix ourselves, true healing can then arise.

I also want to expand people's frames of reference around healing. We are not just talking about healing abuse or trauma. We are also talking about healing illusions and misconceptions. Core illusions wound us the most deeply. Here's one of them:

"I am not good enough."

These five words destroy probably billions of people's whole lives. Many seemingly "successful" people are tormented by this belief, which is why they have to try so hard at whatever vocation or pursuit they choose. There are many more deep seated beliefs and fears that also need to be found and healed. They include; "I am not safe," "I am not lovable," "I am a terrible person," and so on. The list is quite long, and I encourage you to do some honest journaling to see what core beliefs sit at the center of your being. Consequently, it's these lies that I think are the most important to heal and some of the ones we as a society are poorest at healing.

So these are some of the thoughts that I explore in the following recording. Enjoy!
