Meditative Monday: Loneliness

spiritual path, spiritual loneliness, desert, hiking trail, junipers,
Human beings have developed for millennia as social animals. Our deep connection to being with others can make being alone really hard emotionally and psychologically.

There is a value, however, in spending time on one's own as well as having positive time in community. This is shifting balance for everyone.

With that said, isolation has become increasingly common in Western Society. A lot of social ways of connecting have been inhibited or are being lost as we go through rapid changes in society and technology. If you find yourself struggling with loneliness, you may actually be struggling with a lack of social ability and communication understanding. Knowing how to communicate is critical in developing connections so that you don't feel so isolated. It is an important set of tools and changing tools to learn, re-learn, and practice.
